Join a group of fellow adventurers and step into the thrilling world of ice climbing! This shared experience is designed for beginners to learn the basics of scaling frozen waterfalls and icy cliffs. Together, you'll discover how to use crampons, ice axes, and other essential gear while mastering proper climbing and belaying techniques under the guidance of our seasoned instructors. Explore stunning winter landscapes while building confidence and mastering the basics of this exciting sport. Whether you're looking to expand your climbing skills or try something new, this is the ultimate way to start your ice climbing journey.
Please note: This is a group special program not a custom private day. A minimum number of participants is required for the program to run.
This program can also be taken as a Custom Private Day anytime if you prefer not to be matched with others or if the offered group dates don’t work for you.

Duration: 9am to 4:30pm is a typical day
Group Size: Up to 8 (2 minimum for the program to run)
Ratios: 4 guests to 1 instructor. Larger groups will have multiple instructors.
Typical Season: Late December to Early March
Skill Level: Beginner. Appropriate for all levels.

Your Guide: All of the Guides at Gunks Guides & Climbing School hold a certification from the American Mountain Guides Association and work in the terrain they are certified in.
All rock climbing gear (shoes, harness, helmet, belay device, chalk bag , etc.)

You will meet your guide and get outfitted with any gear needed at The Rock & Snow Annex in New Paltz. You’ll then jump back in your car and drive to the chosen parking area together. Click Here for direction to our meeting locations.
